Pembroke Heritage Murals
Digital Audio Mural Tour – “Keeping up with the times”
For a number of years now, the Heritage Mural Committee has provided the City with an updated Mural Tour for Pembroke’s Four-Season Visitor Guidebook. Times are changing as more people access digital information and download to their MP3 Players. With this in mind, Heritage Murals has provided the Pembroke Downtown Development Commission‘s IT technician with a full Audio Mural Tour. The print version will continue to be available inside the free Guidebook.
Ron Resmer’s House of Music professionally recorded this Tour. Dave Henderson reads the full Tour and Pamela Dempsey, Chair of Heritage Murals, provides a short introduction and conclusion. The Tour follows the order of the print version and provides verbal breaks between descriptions so people can move on to the next Mural. With IPODS though, people can skip to the Mural in front of them or to one they are particularly interested in. The Audio Mural Tour provides an opportunity for more details and information.
In the coming weeks, Heritage Murals will be replacing the existing brass Title plaques on twenty-four murals so the murals are easily identifiable to the public and to those using their IPODS for a Tour.
This Audio Tour is a free service and can be found here (To save to your computer, right click on the link and choose Save As...). The recorded Tour itself is 51 minutes and 21 seconds long in MP3 format, and takes a few minutes to download. There will be a link on the City’s web site, Heritage Murals page, to the PDDC site. We trust everyone who enjoys their IPODS and Pembroke’s Outdoor Art Gallery will add this to their collection.
Donation from the Pembroke Downtown Development Commission
Pembroke Heritage Murals is very appreciative of the on-going support of the Pembroke Downtown Development Commission. The PDDC has recently made a donation of $500.00 to Pembroke Heritage Murals and is hosting the new Audio Mural Tour on their web-site. We also work together to address garbage, weeds and the general appearance of the downtown core as it relates to the murals and businesses. Our goal is the same, to ensure our community is attractive and a pleasant experience for residents and visitors alike.
